.22LR Two Gun Steel Match

Match Requirements:

1. Appropriate Vision and Hearing Protection.
2. Two firearms are required for this event.
3. Competitors will use:
   1. Any .22LR semi-automatic pistol or revolver with either Open or Optic Sights in good operating condition. Magazine capacity is limited to ten (10) rounds.
   2. Any .22LR semi-automatic rifle or manual rifle with either Open or Optic Sights in good

Safety Briefing:

1. All RF&G Range Safety Procedures will be followed but with the following exceptions:
   1. Shooting will be from the standing position
   2. Steel targets (i.e. swingers, clangers) placed in ricochet boxes set at various distances
2. All firearms shall be brought to the range and to the firing line unloaded and in a closed case.
3. Rifles will be uncased and inspected by RSO and then added to the rifle rack.
4. Holsters may NOT be used for this event.
5. When the range is declared “Hot”, the horn will be sounded, the range lights will be turned off and all participants and spectators shall wear eye and ear protection.
6. When the range is declared “Hot”, only the designated shooter(s), match director and range officers shall be on the firing line. All others will remain behind the firing line in the designated safe area.
7. Before the range is made “Cold”, all firearms shall be made safe by clearing actions of all ammunition (i.e. magazines removed, actions open, empty chamber indicator inserted or when a cleared firearm is cased and removed from the line). When all firearms have been made safe or removed from the line, the horn will be sounded, the range lights will be activated and Range declared Cold, and NO contact may be made with any firearm.
8. Detachable magazines may be loaded at any time behind the firing line.
9. The shooter(s) will bring their cased handgun and rifle to the firing line and wait for the range officer to give the commands “Uncase firearm” and “Load And Make Ready” before handling the firearms.
10. Up is not a safe direction at this range. (The only exceptions to this are:
    1. When moving rifles to and from the Rifle Rack to avoid sweeping the muzzle past other people to the rear of the firing line.
    2. When emptying revolvers AFTER their cylinders are opened to eject all shells.
11. Special care must be taken to ensure the muzzle is always pointed down range when loading, unloading, adjusting slings and clearing misfires.
12. Fingers shall be kept outside the trigger guard when loading, unloading, clearing jams, and while the competitor is waiting for the command to fire.
13. If it is necessary to work on or adjust a firearm, notify the Match Director and request permission to case the firearm and take it to the designated Safety Table provided or to the other range for attention. Be certain to observe “HOT” / “COLD” Range protocol and the need to accommodateother shooters when using the other range.

Match Description and Layout:

Man on Man format: Competitors will be assigned a number during check in. At this time an RSO will ask them to uncase their rifle to be inspected to ensure it is clear. An empty camber indicator will be inserted into the chamber and the rifle will be placed into the rifle rack. When the competition begins, two numbers will be drawn randomly with selected shooters proceeding to the left/right firing table with their cased pistol and their rifle off the rack.When instructed by the Match Director, competitors will load and make ready both firearms for action. Only 10 rounds may be loaded in a magazine regardless of capacity. Handguns will be loaded first and placed on the bench with slides/cylinders closed with muzzles pointed downrange. The rifle will be loaded next and retained by the shooter. At the command to “FIRE” shooters will begin with their rifles to engage any ten targets they choose. The rifle must be fired until it is empty. IT MAY NOT BE RELOADED. Shooters will then bench their rifles with muzzles pointed downrange and pick up their pistols. All remaining targets must be hit with their pistol, then the tie breaking stop plate last. The pistol may be reloaded to finish if necessary, but each subsequent reload may not be more than 10 rounds.

The competitor who completes their course of fire first is the winner of that relay. Shooters will compete in multiple relays and then scores will be reviewed to split competitors into A and B groups. Competitors will compete against those in their assigned group to determine a winner. The winner of group A and B will then face each other to determine the final match winner.

It is important to note that each shooter will ensure both their pistol and rifle is unloaded and confirmed safe by an RSO before they are allowed to leave the firing line.
