Youth Steel Silhouette Match

Purpose: Provide youth opportunity to learn fundamental firearms safety and rifle marksmanship skills while participating in a fun NRA style steel silhouette match. RF&G club will provide rifles for use to those who don’t own one.**

This fun match starts at 10am at the Rifle range with a mandatory match safety briefing. All youth must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be required to remain with their youth while they are shooting. This is a .22 LR rimfire rifle match – No pistols are allowed. All RF&G Range Safety Rules apply except as noted – steel silhouette targets set at distances of 15, 25, 35 and 55 yards will be used. A total of 40 shots from the standing position – ten at each target distance, will be used for score. The top scorer in each class: Boys, Girls and Physically Challenged – win class. Slings will be allowed but no palm-rests, hooked butt-plates or shooting jackets.

Exception: Physically challenged riflemen and those unable to safely hold a rifle in the standing position may
shoot from wheelchairs or seated at the bench. Any type of sight is allowed but scopes of any magnification are allowed and recommended.

Cost: Youth (9-17yrs) – Free
Adult Parents may be permitted to shoot if time permitting – $5

A sight-in bench and target will be set up for use to check zero. Eye and hearing protection are required, and all rifles must be brought to the range and firing line unloaded and cased.

Note: Targets are the larger pistol sized metal silhouettes on swingers or auto-resetting that require no walking downrange to reset. All steel targets are placed in ricochet containment boxes. If it is raining the match will be rescheduled.
