Benchrest Match – Rimfire, Centerfire Rifles: Precision & Accuracy events

Time: Start: 9:30 AM to 02:30 PM (competitors coming after 9:30 will be allowed to compete – last relays to line at approximately 1:15 pm)

Range: Rifle Range

Targets: Rimfire Accuracy: One shot at each of 25 paper targets set at 50 yards. Centerfire Accuracy: One shot at each of 20 paper targets set at 100 yards. Centerfire & Rimfire Precision: Five shots for group at each of 4 paper targets set at 100 yards. Military Accuracy: Four shots at each of 5 paper targets set at 100 yards. Military Precision: Five shots for group at each of 4 paper targets set at 100 yards.

Firearm(s) / Ammunition: Any rimfire rifle (.22LR, .22 WMR, .17 HMR, .17machI, etc.) with any sights, but optics strongly recommended. Any centerfire rifle may compete in one of the following classes: Varmint – any caliber with any optic with a barrel diameter </= .900 at the muzzle; Hunting – caliber </= .243 with a barrel diameter </= .775 at the muzzle; Flat-topped AR style rifles with optics are encouraged to compete in the above Varmint or Hunting classes; Unlimited – any caliber with any optic and a barrel diameter > .900 at the muzzle. Military – Any battle firearm, including civilian versions, with open sights.

Restrictions: Only the use of two-piece rests are permitted.

Safety: All firearms will be brought to the range unloaded and cased. Competitors and observers will provide their own ear and eye protection. All competitors MUST attend the mandatory safety / match briefing.

Match Description: Paper targets, including those that incorporate provisions for sighting-in, will be provided for each of the various 50 and 100 yard Accuracy or Precision classes elected by the participant. Each relay will be limited to 20 minutes and competitors will have an opportunity to engage in more than one class. Spotting scopes and two-piece rests are recommended. A more detailed match description will be provided to participants at event.

*Significant Work Hours Available: Set-up at 8am, Scorers & Target re-setters during match, Clean-up ~2:00pm* Persons putting in work hours may also shoot match!

Note: Match may be cancelled / rescheduled due to inclement weather. Call the RF&G Range Number (860) 454-0240 or Match Director(s) for the match status if the weather is forecasted to impact the event. A sign will also be posted at the entrance to the range IF the match has been cancelled.
