Youth Shotgun Clinic

Rockville F&G will hold a seminar Saturday, May 25 for youth, up to the age of 18, interested in learning how to properly and safely shoot trap and skeet. Any youth mature and strong enough to safely handle a shotgun is invited to attend. Attendees must be a family member of a club member or for non-members parent/guardian. The seminar is expected to take approximately four hours and will consist of classroom and hands on, supervised live fire shooting in the field. Participants will be instructed on how a shotgun works, shotgun actions, basic firearms safety rules, proper handling and shooting of shotguns with actual hands- on activity.
Time on the range will include a safety briefing with close supervision live fire putting into practice safe and proper gun handling and shooting. Each participant will shoot an exploratory round (25 shots) at basic trap and skeet shots and one complete round of their choice of trap or skeet.
The SEES committee is providing support for the program. Ammo, targets, eye and hearing protection will be provided by the RF&G SEES committee at no cost to youth participants. Participants may bring their own shotguns or use one provided by the program. All participants 18 and under will be required to have a parent or guardian sign their approval to attend the class. Parents or guardians are encouraged to attend the class room portion of the program as well as participating in the field exercise portion. (Cost for parents will be $25 for the two rounds.)
The seminar will start at 12:30 pm on Saturday, May 25 at the RF&G Clubhouse. You can register to attend by notifying me. If you have an interest please let us know as attendance will be limited to a maximum of 24 people shooting.
